Welcoming Fabric to Google
Blog post from Google Cloud
In January 2017, Google announced the acquisition of Fabric, a popular mobile development platform from Twitter, to enhance its Firebase platform. The integration aims to combine the strengths of both platforms to provide developers with a comprehensive suite of tools for building high-quality apps across iOS, Android, and the mobile web. Firebase, which had expanded significantly eight months prior, is focused on simplifying software development and freeing developers to innovate by improving core features like Firebase Analytics, Test Lab, and Cloud Messaging, as well as offering new tools for game developers. Fabric's renowned crash reporting tool, Crashlytics, is expected to become Firebase's main offering in this area, while Twitter will maintain the SMS authentication service, Digits, during the transition. This acquisition reflects Google's commitment to providing a seamless mobile app development experience, allowing developers to concentrate on creating innovative user experiences.
