Blog post from Google Cloud
Four game studio founders from different parts of the world share their unique inspirations and journeys in game development through the #WeArePlay series. Filipe from Brazil was motivated by his city's rich cultural heritage to create games that share Brazilian history, leading to the founding of Aoca Game Lab and their game ÁRIDA: Backland’s Awakening. Marko from Serbia transitioned from chemistry to technology after receiving his first computer, eventually establishing Peaksel, a studio with over 480 million downloads. Liene from Latvia drew inspiration from nature and outdoor activities, creating Roadgames, which offers adventurous scavenger hunts. In Australia, Xin left a corporate tech career to create mobile games reminiscent of 90's video games, founding Pixel Starships. These developers have benefited from Google Play programs like the Indie Games Accelerator and Indie Games Fund to advance their studios and creations.
