Spiral Spreads to 80 Countries in 20 Weeks. Thanks, GWT!
Blog post from Google Cloud
Spiral Universe, a school information management system, successfully expanded to 80 countries in 20 weeks, thanks in large part to Google Web Toolkit (GWT), which addressed their need for a scalable, flexible, and performant user interface compatible with any modern browser and language without requiring plugins. Initially, their "webtop" user interface faced sluggish performance issues, but with the release of GWT 2.0 and improvements from both the Ext GWT team and the Chrome team, the UI became responsive and closely mimicked a desktop experience. After over two years of development, they launched their beta version in January, now widely used in schools globally. The founders, Reuben S. Kerben and Andrei Volgin, showcased their technology at Google I/O, aiming to inspire other developers and explore potential integrations with apps beneficial for schools and educational stakeholders.
