New monetization and publishing options in the Chrome Web Store
Blog post from Google Cloud
In March 2014, the Chrome Web Store announced new tools and services designed to streamline the publishing process and enhance monetization options for developers. These updates include Managed In-App Payments, which simplify payment management for extensions and themes, allowing developers to handle in-app products directly from the developer dashboard. Additionally, a Free Trial feature has been introduced for Chrome Packaged Apps and Extensions, enabling users to test paid items before purchasing. The Chrome Web Store API has also been expanded to support programmatic creation, updating, and publishing of items, facilitating integration with automated build and deployment processes. These enhancements aim to reduce overhead for developers, enabling them to focus more on creating content and services.
