Making your site more mobile-friendly with PageSpeed Insights
Blog post from Google Cloud
PageSpeed Insights has been updated to assist developers and webmasters in making their sites more mobile-friendly by providing new recommendations focused on mobile usability. Although a fast page load is important, it is equally crucial to address usability issues such as improper viewport configuration, content sizing, legible font sizes, appropriately sized tap targets, and the avoidance of plugins, as these factors can significantly affect the user experience. The tool now includes User Experience rules that guide users on configuring the viewport to width=device-width, ensuring content fits the screen without horizontal scrolling, using readable font sizes, making touch targets large enough, and avoiding unsupported plugins like Flash. By implementing these recommendations, users can enhance their site's usability and test improvements using the PageSpeed Insights tool. Additionally, the tool itself has been redesigned for mobile compatibility and its documentation is now available in multiple languages, offering a more accessible resource for optimizing mobile websites.
