Machine Learning Communities: Q1 ‘22 highlights and achievements
Blog post from Google Cloud
In the first quarter of 2022, the Google Machine Learning communities, including Kaggle and various TensorFlow User Groups (TFUGs), achieved significant milestones and hosted numerous events globally. The ML Olympiad, sponsored by Google and hosted by Machine Learning Google Developers Experts (ML GDEs) and TFUGs, featured competitions addressing critical issues such as Autism Prediction and Quality Education, with participation from communities in Saudi Arabia, New York, and beyond. Highlights include the TensorFlow Community Spotlight award won by TFUG Mumbai and Rishit Dagli, and a series of impactful projects and tutorials by ML GDEs, such as Sachin Kumar's chatbot tutorial using Dialogflow CX and Ngoc Ba's translation project utilizing Google Cloud resources. Additionally, several ML GDEs received accolades for their contributions, including Aakash Kumar Nain's tutorial series on building models in JAX and Bhavesh Bhatt's braille-to-audio model. Furthermore, workshops and events, like those hosted by TFUG Chennai, provided learning opportunities for beginners, while Merve Noyan's workshops on NLP covered advanced topics and tools like Transformers and Hugging Face.
