How it’s Made: TextFX is a suite of AI tools made in collaboration with Lupe Fiasco

Google Lab Sessions collaborated with GRAMMY® Award-winning rapper Lupe Fiasco to explore how AI can enhance human creativity through an experiment called TextFX. The initiative involved examining Lupe's creative process, particularly his unique linguistic techniques such as creating phrases that sound identical to given words but have different meanings. Leveraging large language models (LLMs), the project aimed to integrate these techniques into AI-generated text, using few-shot learning to refine the outputs. TextFX, built using Google's PaLM API, consists of various creative prompts that explore possibilities like similes, alliteration, and unexpected scene construction. The project underscores the potential of AI in augmenting creative writing and invites users to experiment with these tools through Google's MakerSuite platform. By open-sourcing the code and offering public access, Google encourages further exploration of AI as a collaborator in various creative domains.
