How GDSC students are using their skills to support communities in Ukraine
Blog post from Google Cloud
Amidst the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, student developers from the Google Developer Student Clubs (GDSC) are stepping up to offer support through initiatives such as Code4Ukraine. This international hackathon organized by the GDSC community at Eindhoven University of Technology gathered over 80 student developers from various countries to create technology solutions that address challenges faced by those affected by the conflict. Notably, the winning project, Medicine Warriors, developed by students from Ukraine, Poland, and Georgia, aims to alleviate the insulin shortage in Ukraine by compiling government data on insulin availability in an accessible format. Ekaterina Gricaenko, the GDSC chapter lead at the National Technical University of Ukraine Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, emphasizes the community spirit and support demonstrated by GDSC members during these challenging times. The initiative reflects the broader mission of GDSC to empower student developers to make impactful changes in their communities through technology, with applications open for new student leads for the 2022-2023 academic year.
