Google Storage for Developers: A Preview
Blog post from Google Cloud
Google Storage for Developers, introduced on May 19, 2010, is a RESTful cloud service designed to meet the increasing demand for core cloud services by offering fast and reliable storage through Google's infrastructure, replicated across multiple US data centers. The service supports various authentication methods, SSL, and convenient access controls, providing scalability with read-after-write data consistency and the ability to handle large objects per request. Developers can manage storage via a web-based interface or the open-source GSUtil command-line tool, and during the limited preview, they can receive up to 100GB of storage and 300GB of monthly bandwidth at no cost. The service was showcased at Google I/O, inviting developers to learn more and join the waiting list for access.
