Summary

In September 2011, Google announced the release of the Beta version 1.5 of its open-source Google APIs Client Library for Java, which now includes the Google OAuth Client Library for Java supporting both OAuth 1.0a and OAuth 2.0. This development allows client applications to securely access users' private data on Google without needing their passwords, promoting the wider adoption of OAuth 2.0 across the web. Alongside this, Google also released the Beta version of its Google HTTP Client Library for Java, which facilitates seamless integration with any web API through a pluggable HTTP transport abstraction and robust support for JSON and XML data models. These libraries aim to simplify the creation and maintenance of client libraries that are more versatile and user-friendly, encouraging feedback from developers to enhance usability. Yaniv Inbar, a Senior Software Engineer at Google, leads the development of these libraries, which are designed to work across various Java platforms and provide developers with the tools to build innovative applications using Google APIs.
