Build the future of home with Google Home APIs

At Google I/O 2024, Google announced the Home APIs and Home runtime, allowing developers to create innovative home experiences by accessing over 600 million devices, Google’s hubs, and Matter infrastructure. Currently in public developer beta for Android, with iOS soon to follow, these APIs enable app developers to build and test apps with up to 100 users before their general availability later this year. The APIs encompass Device and Structure APIs for managing connected devices, a Commissioning API for seamless onboarding and Google Assistant integration, and an Automation API for creating intelligent home automations. Early partners like Eve, Nanoleaf, and LG have already leveraged the APIs to enhance their products, while other brands such as Aqara, GE, and Yale are also developing cross-platform experiences. Google encourages developers to join their community forums for support and feedback, promising ongoing updates and collaboration opportunities as they continue to evolve the Google Home ecosystem.
