Summary

A2UI is Google’s framework-agnostic, declarative standard for generative user interfaces, enabling AI agents to describe interactive UI as structured data while applications render it through trusted existing components. It addresses the limitations of text-only agent interactions by allowing agents to produce selectable results, maps, forms, date pickers, and other context-specific interfaces without executing model-generated code. CopilotKit integrates A2UI through its AG-UI protocol, carrying typed UI events between compatible agent frameworks such as Google ADK, LangChain, Mastra, and AWS Strands and frontend environments including React, Angular, Vue, Slack, Flutter, Lit, and others. Developers define a catalog of permitted components and validation schemas, which gives agents flexibility to assemble personalized interfaces while preserving design-system consistency and security. A2UI also supports streaming, reactive, bidirectional experiences in which user input is validated locally, sent back to the agent on an action, and used to update the same interface for multi-step tasks such as flight booking. CopilotKit adds features including minimal server setup, dedicated UI-generation sub-agents, automatic correction of invalid outputs, and graceful fallback behavior, with starter applications and demonstrations available for implementation.
