Aligning the user experience across surfaces for Google Pay
Blog post from Google Cloud
Google Pay has been working to unify the user experience across Web and Android platforms by adopting the latest Material 3 design system, leading to significant improvements in user engagement and error reduction. On Android and Chrome for Android, the alignment of bottom sheets has resulted in a 2.5% increase in conversion rates and a 39% reduction in errors. The web version now mirrors the Android experience with a revamp of the Payment Handler window, achieving a 9% increase in conversion rates. These changes have been rolled out to most users without requiring merchants to make adjustments to their integrations. While some features like dynamic price updates still use the old design, efforts are underway to migrate all functionalities to the new design. Merchants interested in integrating Google Pay can access documentation and resources on GitHub, and follow updates through @GooglePayDevs on X.
