Actions on Google at I/O: More ways to drive engagement and create rich, immersive experiences
Blog post from Google Cloud
Google Assistant is expanding its capabilities to become more conversational and visually engaging, with developers playing a crucial role in this evolution by building over 1 million Actions across various devices. Recent enhancements include support for more languages, customizable visual experiences, and seamless integration of digital subscriptions, allowing users to access content they have purchased on Google Play through the Assistant. The introduction of App Actions aims to increase the visibility of Android apps by integrating them with the Assistant, while built-in intents and Action Links help users discover and engage with these Actions more easily. Developers can also leverage Routine Suggestions to become part of users' daily habits, and new testing and deployment features facilitate the creation of high-quality Actions. Additionally, voice transactions and account linking improvements are being rolled out, and the redesigned Actions console offers a streamlined development experience. With these updates, Google encourages more developers to explore building conversational experiences for the Assistant, offering guides and community support to assist in the transition.
