Uncover the business logic vulnerabilities SAST scanners miss
Blog post from GitLab
GitLab has introduced its Business Logic Security Analyzer in early access for select GitLab Ultimate customers on GitLab.com to identify authorization and business-logic vulnerabilities that conventional pattern-based SAST tools often miss. The analyzer focuses initially on broken object-level authorization, missing or improper authorization checks, and mass assignment, examining entire repositories to understand application data models, user roles, endpoint behavior, and intended access rules rather than analyzing isolated code changes alone. It can scan repositories and merge requests after pipelines pass, reporting findings in GitLab’s Vulnerability Report and merge request security widget as SAST results to support remediation and auditing. Built on GitLab Duo Agent Platform, the tool supports Anthropic’s Claude Mythos 5.1 as well as several Claude Opus and Sonnet models, which operate through GitLab’s AI gateway under existing data-handling terms. GitLab positions the capability as a response to expanding codebases, accelerating attacks, and the need for security controls that independently verify both human- and AI-generated code, while inviting early-access participants to evaluate its accuracy and usefulness on their own applications.
