GitLab Duo Agent Platform has added three GitLab-hosted open weight models—Kimi K3, GLM 5.3, and MiniMax M3—to give development teams more flexibility in matching AI models to task complexity, performance, latency, and cost requirements. Kimi K3 and GLM 5.3 are positioned for demanding coding and long-context work, while MiniMax M3 targets high-volume, multi-step tasks where lower compute cost is important; GitLab says these options can provide up to four times more calls per GitLab Credit than some comparable frontier models. The platform lets top-level group owners centrally select feature defaults and restrict available models across projects, while supporting GitLab-managed, self-hosted, and hybrid deployment approaches to accommodate governance and infrastructure needs. GitLab states that hosted models undergo internal quality evaluation and vendor security reviews, and that Fireworks AI, which serves all three new models, operates under a zero data retention policy for Duo requests. The models are now available as optional or default selections in Duo Agent Platform, and GitLab will discuss agentic AI across the software lifecycle at its Transcend livestream on October 6.
