GPT-6 Astra on GitLab: Faster runs, fewer tokens used

GPT-6 Astra is now available on GitLab Duo Agent Platform, where GitLab reports that it completed benchmark runs 43.4% faster than GPT-5.6 Sol on average and 49.2% faster at the 95th-percentile slowest runs while using 42.7% fewer tokens per run. In internal testing, Astra completed every benchmark task without stalls, timeouts, or empty outputs, although its 63.3% rate of producing test-passing changes was lower than Sol’s 76.7%. GitLab positions Astra for routine, reviewable work such as dependency updates, build fixes, and small multi-file changes, particularly when speed and token efficiency are priorities, while Sol may remain preferable for tasks requiring higher first-pass accuracy. Administrators can select models by feature while retaining GitLab’s shared context, policy, and auditing controls, and Astra is available through GitLab Credits, including credits provided to eligible Premium and Ultimate subscribers.
