GitLab's agent orchestration eliminates the wait between development stages
Blog post from GitLab
GitLab announced new agent orchestration capabilities in its Duo Agent Platform intended to address delivery delays that persist after AI accelerates code generation, particularly in review, testing, security scanning, approvals, and other manual handoffs. Goal-driven flows allow users to define an outcome through Duo CLI, headless mode, or Agentic Chat, then have agents continue work across connected delivery stages while a separate model evaluates progress against the stated goal. GitLab for Slack enables teams to trigger flows, create issues, or ask codebase questions directly from Slack conversations, with progress reported in the originating thread. Custom Flows let organizations configure multi-step agent sequences triggered by GitLab events such as mentions, assignments, or pipeline failures, including self-healing pipeline workflows with human checkpoints. These capabilities operate under GitLab’s existing identity, policy, and evidence controls, and goal-driven flows are available on GitLab.com, Self-Managed, and Dedicated deployments for Premium and Ultimate customers using specified GitLab and Duo CLI versions.
