Co-Create: Building GitLab with our users

GitLab’s Co-Create program enables customers and contributors to work directly with the company on product improvements based on real workflow challenges, moving beyond feedback-only participation toward shared design, development, and delivery. In the first half of 2026, more than 650 contributors made 4,874 improvements across over 100 product groups, including expanded APIs and automation through user application management, SCIM token visibility, distributed CI/CD tracing, and Terraform state protection rules. Contributors also strengthened security and delivery controls with instance-wide Secret Push Protection enforcement and configurable merge train pipeline limits, while broadening GitLab’s code intelligence through Scala support in GitLab Orbit and clearer multi-architecture container image information. Usability and accessibility updates improved API documentation, non-Latin navigation anchors, diagram descriptions, keyboard shortcut guidance, and Markdown PDF exports. The program additionally supports collaboration on translations, documentation, templates, discussions, and events, with GitLab inviting both individuals and organizations to contribute ideas or help address existing issues.
