Introducing GitKraken MCP: AI Agents Just Got a Power-Up
Blog post from GitKraken
GitKraken CLI now includes a local Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that connects AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code, and Claude to GitKraken functionality. After installing the CLI, authenticating with `gk auth login`, and configuring the MCP connection, users can let AI agents access codebase insights, pull request status, repository data, integrations, and team knowledge. Suggested workflows include updating shared dependencies across multiple repositories and automatically creating pull requests, identifying high-priority Jira issues and relevant code experts through commit history, and finding and deleting outdated local branches without affecting remote branches. GitKraken presents the MCP server as a way to automate routine Git and repository-management work through natural-language prompts while encouraging users to develop additional use cases.
