GitLens 2022 Releases: A Round-Up of the Year’s Biggest Hits
Blog post from GitKraken
GitLens reported a major 2022 marked by releases 12 and 13, the launch of GitLens+ features, support for VS Code for the Web, and a milestone of 20 million installs. GitLens+ introduced Visual File History, Worktrees, and the Commit Graph, with these features available without an account for local and public repositories while Pro accounts are required for private repositories. The new Commit Graph provides an interactive visualization of repository history, relationships among commits, detailed search filters, and branch and tag actions, while Visual File History and Worktrees help developers examine file evolution and work on multiple branches simultaneously. Other additions included the Commit Details view, web access through github.dev and vscode.dev, integrations for GitHub Enterprise and GitLab Self-Managed, and community-contributed support for Gerrit and Google Source. Looking ahead, GitLens planned to add Workspaces for focusing on relevant issues and pull requests and to involve its user community more directly in open product design.
