GitLens 17.2: Commit Composer Preview, Streamlined UX, and Enterprise AI Controls
Blog post from GitKraken
GitLens 17.2 introduces Commit Composer, a preview AI feature that organizes working changes or existing branch commits into logical commits with generated messages and descriptions while automatically stashing original changes for safety. The release also redesigns the Home View to reduce clutter, improve issue-to-branch-to-pull-request visibility, clarify repository navigation, and streamline standard or AI-assisted pull request creation. AI capabilities now support additional models from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, and Mistral, while Advanced-plan organizations gain controls to restrict providers and configure shared API keys or custom endpoints. Other updates include cleaner rendered AI explanations, file-history contributor information, improved loading and picker states, enhanced worktree management, terminal-free branch deletion, and automatic stashing and restoration of uncommitted changes during pull operations.
