GitLens 12 – Visual Studio Code for the Web Support & GitLens+
Blog post from GitKraken
GitLens 12 adds preview support for Visual Studio Code for the Web, allowing users to access GitLens capabilities such as inline blame, annotations, heatmaps, and file history directly in GitHub repositories through vscode.dev and github.dev without a local clone. The release also introduces GitLens+ features, including Visual File History, which displays a file’s evolution through author-coded commit timelines and change sizes, and Worktrees, which simplifies managing multiple checked-out branches from VS Code’s source control panel. Core GitLens functionality remains free, while a free GitLens+ account enables the new features for public repositories and provides a seven-day trial for private repositories; paid Pro and Enterprise plans extend private-repository access, support, and team-oriented capabilities. Other updates include automatically linked GitHub issues and pull requests in commit comparisons, support for comparing revisions with stashes, and a new in-app walkthrough that helps users configure and use GitLens features.
