GitKon 2022 Keynote: Drupal Founder & Acquia CTO Dries Buytaert

GitKon 2022, a free virtual conference for the global Git community held October 11–13, announced Drupal founder and Acquia co-founder and CTO Dries Buytaert as its first keynote speaker. Buytaert’s presentation would examine Drupal’s growth from a college message board created in 2001 into a widely used open-source content management system, emphasizing how community participation and open-source development supported its commercial success. Drupal powers millions of sites and is particularly used by governments, universities, and nonprofits because of its modular architecture, customizable themes, and transparent security process. Acquia, founded in 2007, provides commercial support, services, training, and additional products for Drupal users rather than replacing the open-source platform. GitKon also featured speakers from organizations including GitHub, GitLab, Microsoft, Amazon, and Atlassian, with a focus on collaboration, DevOps, and scaling software teams through Git.
