Enhancing Git Management in Python Projects
Blog post from GitKraken
GitLens is a Visual Studio Code extension that expands built-in Git functionality to help Python beginners and experienced developers visualize repository history, track authorship and file changes, compare branches and commits, and manage collaboration tasks. It can be installed through the VS Code Extensions view and works with minimal setup, while offering configurable settings and several premium features such as Launchpad, commit graphs, worktrees, cloud patches, and visual file history. The commit graph presents commits, branches, and merges as a connected visual timeline, helping users understand project evolution, identify relevant changes, and investigate when issues may have been introduced. Launchpad provides an in-editor, consolidated view of pull requests and merge requests across repositories, organizing items that need attention, are blocked, or have been snoozed, and allowing users to review changes, assign reviewers, and access related repository information.
