GitHub is updating its infrastructure by expanding the range of IP addresses it uses, which requires users who whitelist GitHub in their firewall rules to include the new IP ranges. This change, aimed at adding more load balancers, introduces an additional IP address for GitHub.com, 204.232.175.90, alongside the existing IP, 207.97.227.239, both of which resolve to GitHub.com via reverse DNS. Users employing SSH will encounter a notification when the new IP is accessed for the first time, which is the standard response from SSH clients. Furthermore, GitHub plans to introduce an additional IP subnet, 192.30.252.0/22, to further enhance its network capability.
