Nat Friedman announced his departure from GitHub, where he served as CEO, to pursue new ventures focusing on supporting and investing in technology founders and developers. Thomas Dohmke, currently the Chief Product Officer, will succeed him as CEO, effective November 15th. Friedman expressed gratitude for his time at GitHub and highlighted the platform's growth, including the success of GitHub Actions, Codespaces, Copilot, and security tools like GitHub Advanced Security and CodeQL. He emphasized the transformative role of GitHub in the software development landscape, with over 73 million developers and significant enterprise adoption, including 84% of the Fortune 100. As he transitions to Chairman Emeritus, Friedman is optimistic about GitHub's future under Dohmke's leadership, acknowledging the platform's central role in the cloud and AI-driven evolution of software development.
