Students: Start building your skills with the GitHub Foundations certification
Blog post from GitHub
GitHub has introduced a new initiative to support students in acquiring essential development skills by offering free access to the GitHub Foundations certification exam as part of its Student Developer Pack. This certification is tailored to help students learn and demonstrate proficiency in using GitHub's tools and features, including version control, collaboration, workflow automation, and core functionalities such as repository management, commits, and project management. To participate, students must first verify their student status through an application process, after which they can prepare for the exam using resources provided by GitHub. The non-proctored exam can be taken anytime within 60 days of registration, and successful candidates will receive a digital badge via Credly to showcase their credential on professional networks. This initiative is part of GitHub's broader effort to empower students to explore software development tools and projects, offering additional benefits like access to GitHub Copilot, a GitHub Pro account, and participation in global developer events.
