Game Off 2024 theme announcement

Game Off is an annual game jam held throughout November, encouraging both seasoned participants and newcomers to create games based on a specific theme, which this year is "SECRETS." Participants have until December 1 to submit their games, with the creative freedom to interpret the theme in various ways, from exploring hidden chambers in a top-down adventure to hacking simulations. This year introduces optional "wildcards" like limited color palettes and cheat modes to add flair. Developers can work individually or in teams, utilizing any programming language or game engine, and must store their source code on GitHub for open-source access. Submissions are hosted on itch.io, where participants can also vote on entries based on gameplay, graphics, audio, innovation, and theme interpretation until January 8, 2025. The winners will be announced on January 10, 2025, offering a welcoming opportunity for developers to experiment with new technologies and engage with the Game Off community.
