Closed Captions on YouTube

GitHub has enhanced the accessibility of its YouTube content by adding English closed captions to all videos on both the main GitHub channel and the GitHub Guides channel, utilizing the non-profit open-source project Amara. In addition to English, the GitHub Foundations series now features Japanese captions, marking the beginning of a broader effort to make their videos accessible to non-English speakers. The initiative seeks to engage volunteers from around the world to contribute translations in various languages through Amara’s Volunteer Platform, inviting interested individuals to join the GitHub team on Amara and use its in-browser subtitling tool to assist in this effort.
