Git Merge 2025, held at GitHub HQ in San Francisco, celebrated the 20th anniversary of Git with a diverse program of technical talks, community collaboration, and virtual participation, attracting over 100 in-person and more than 600 online attendees. The event featured sessions suitable for all experience levels, with presentations from a range of speakers, including maintainers, educators, hobbyists, and a high school student, highlighting Git's influence on their work. Innovative presentations included Scott Chacon's comedic live demo of the GitButler CLI, Martin von Zweigbergk's exploration of Jujutsu's integration with Git, and Jacob Stopak's visualization and gamification of Git learning. The second day emphasized collaboration during the Git Contributor's Summit and Unconference, allowing participants to contribute ideas on Git's future.
