The Region Consolidation Project
Blog post from Fly.io
Fly.io is undergoing a regional consolidation effort, which involves merging several deprecated regions into fewer consolidated ones. Users in the deprecated regions, such as Madrid, Atlanta, and Hong Kong, will be automatically migrated to recommended consolidated regions, though they have the option to handle the migration themselves. The process generally involves updating the primary region in the fly.toml file and adjusting the scaling of applications, with additional steps required for apps utilizing volumes. The newly consolidated regions include key locations such as Dallas, Paris, Singapore, and Sao Paulo, among others across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, South America, and Africa.
