Three teams. Eight hours. Three amazing features: Flagsmith’s 2026 Lisbon Offsite and Hackathon

A global remote team gathered in Azenhas do Mar, Portugal, for an annual meeting focused on team bonding and a company-wide hackathon aimed at enhancing their product iteration approach. Despite rainy weather, the team engaged in indoor activities, including a hackathon with the goal of developing impactful features in areas such as enterprise support, developer pain relief, and agile product iteration using AI-led coding. Teams, each composed of engineers and sales or marketing personnel, had eight hours over three days to create and launch features directly into production, showcasing the benefits of feature flags for safe rollouts. The event fostered empathy and understanding across departments, with new team members quickly integrating into the workflow and gaining firsthand experience in both development and go-to-market strategies. Ultimately, the exercise resulted in three successful features that will undergo customer feedback and further integration into the product, highlighting the importance of using AI and direct production launches for rapid validation and iteration.
