Gartner Recognizes Firefly for Continuous Resilience Automation in the 2026 Gartner® Hype Cycle™ for SRE
Blog post from Firefly
Continuous Resilience Automation (CRA) has been identified by Gartner as a new category in the 2026 Hype Cycle for Site Reliability Engineering, signaling a shift in how the industry approaches resilience in cloud environments. Traditional models of resilience, which focus on recovery after incidents occur, are insufficient at modern cloud scales where incidents and infrastructure drift outpace manual responses. CRA emphasizes embedding resilience throughout the infrastructure lifecycle, treating it as a design constraint rather than a downstream concern. This approach includes defining infrastructure as code, validating it against failure scenarios, and employing automated recovery systems that can detect and self-heal without human intervention. Compliance is integrated into the infrastructure rather than performed retroactively, aligning with emerging regulatory frameworks that demand continuous resilience. Although CRA is in the early stages of the Hype Cycle, with a high potential impact and a 5-10 year horizon for mainstream adoption, organizations that begin implementing these principles now will be better positioned to handle future challenges. Gartner's identification of CRA reflects a growing recognition of the need for resilient, self-healing architectures that balance rapid innovation with reliability.
