Working Closer with Google Cloud Platform

Following the creation of more than one million Firebase projects, Google announced closer integration between Firebase and Google Cloud Platform to support applications ranging from startups to large enterprises. Firebase and GCP already share account and billing systems, enabling combinations such as exporting Firebase Analytics data to BigQuery, and the companies are now sharing additional products, including the public beta of event-driven, serverless Cloud Functions for Firebase. Firebase Storage is also being aligned with Google Cloud Storage and renamed Cloud Storage for Firebase, allowing developers to use any Cloud Storage bucket, region, or storage class through Firebase SDKs. Google plans further integrations through its iOS, web, and Android SDKs, while extending GCP’s Terms of Service to Firebase Authentication, Hosting, Storage, Functions, and Test Lab. The effort aims to combine Firebase’s mobile-focused tools, analytics, and advertising capabilities with GCP’s large-scale infrastructure, making it easier for Firebase users to scale and for GCP customers to develop mobile applications.
