Firebase introduced the Emulator UI, a local web application for managing the Firebase Local Emulator Suite that previously operated only through the Firebase CLI. Designed to support local-first development, it lets developers build, test, debug, and trigger Firebase services such as Cloud Functions, Firestore, and Realtime Database without affecting shared projects, waiting for deployments, or generating billing costs. The interface offers local data editing, JSON uploads, data clearing, function-log search and filtering, service-instance visibility, cross-service testing, and instant reloads for Cloud Functions and Security Rules. Its purple visual design, top navigation, displayed local ports, and links to managed projects distinguish the local environment from the production Firebase console. Developers can begin by upgrading to Firebase CLI version 8.4.0, initializing needed products, and running the emulators command, which hosts the UI at localhost:4000 by default.
