Summary

Firebase Data Connect, now renamed SQL Connect, offers no-cost PostgreSQL trials intended to help developers prototype without billing setup or upfront charges. Firebase Spark-plan projects can create one PostgreSQL 17 db-f1-micro-equivalent instance per project without a credit card, providing 1 vCPU, 10 GB SSD storage, roughly 628 MB memory, and capped daily operations and egress for 90 days; the instance is then suspended for a 30-day grace period before deletion unless the project upgrades to the paid Blaze plan. Blaze-plan projects with billing accounts can also receive one free Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL trial instance per project for three months, with up to five trials per billing account, though configuration changes end the trial and trigger standard Cloud SQL billing. Spark trials restrict core configuration changes and block cost-generating features such as replicas, high availability, and manual backups, while Blaze users may alter settings but become billable if they do.
