Introducing Firebase Admin SDK for Go

Firebase has released its Admin SDK for Go as generally available, adding Go to its existing server-side SDK support for Java, Python, and Node.js. Designed for trusted server environments, the SDK complements Firebase client SDKs used in web and mobile applications and initially provides Firebase Authentication capabilities for creating custom tokens and verifying ID tokens. Developers can initialize it with service account credentials or, when running on Google infrastructure such as App Engine or Compute Engine, use automatically discovered application default credentials. Custom tokens allow applications to integrate their own user stores or authentication systems with Firebase, while ID token verification enables servers to securely identify signed-in users. Firebase plans to extend the Go SDK with features including user management and Firebase Cloud Messaging, and invites community contributions through its open-source GitHub repository.
