How Pomelo Games used Firebase to increase revenue without losing players
Blog post from Firebase
Pomelo Games, a leading Uruguay-based studio, sought to increase monetization for its free-to-play title Once Upon a Tower without undermining the game’s affordability, quality, or player experience. Using Firebase Remote Config and A/B Testing, supported by Google Analytics for revenue monitoring and Firebase Crashlytics for stability tracking, the team tested interstitial advertisements across its player base. Despite initial concerns about player reaction, the change produced an average 25% increase in AdMob revenue and a 35% rise in in-app purchases, while having almost no negative effect on retention or game stability.
