Hamilton App Takes the Stage
Blog post from Firebase
Posse designed, built, and launched the official Hamilton app in three months using Firebase for a serverless backend and Flutter for a shared iOS and Android interface. Firebase Realtime Database, security rules, and Cloud Functions supported features including the ticket lottery, real-time news updates from a custom CMS, user profiles, push notifications, and the #HamCam photo experience, with Cloud Functions handling business logic, image resizing, storage, and database updates. Flutter’s hot reload, reactive widget-based framework, and cross-platform capabilities enabled rapid UI iteration and implementation of Hamilton’s visual identity, while FlutterFire connected the app to Firebase services such as Analytics, Authentication, and Realtime Database. The team concluded that Firebase and Flutter reduced infrastructure and platform-porting work, allowing greater focus on user experience and future app enhancements.
