Developers, meet Firebase!
Blog post from Firebase
Firebase was introduced as a cloud service and JavaScript API intended to help developers create higher-quality, real-time web applications more quickly by providing a scalable backend without requiring them to operate their own servers. Developed from lessons learned through Envolve, a website chat service, Firebase responds to demand for easier ways to build applications such as real-time games, collaboration tools, analytics products, and interactive websites. By delivering data updates directly to applications in real time, it eliminates the need for users to refresh pages for new information. The launch announcement highlighted an interactive tutorial, beta sign-up, a San Francisco launch event, and plans to feature applications created by early developers who tested the platform.
