Bringing the real world to your AI application using Firebase AI Logic

Firebase AI Logic now supports Grounding with Google Maps across Android, iOS, Flutter, JavaScript, and Unity, allowing generative AI applications to base location-related answers on real-world Maps data and reduce hallucinations involving places, ratings, reviews, and routes. Developers can configure supported Gemini models with the Google Maps tool and optional user latitude and longitude to produce locally relevant recommendations, such as travel itineraries. Generated responses include grounding metadata identifying verified text segments, source links, and Google Place IDs, which can be used to add inline citations and retrieve precise place coordinates. Those coordinates can then be displayed on Google Maps with customized advanced markers, enabling interfaces that connect AI-generated recommendations to cited, interactive locations. The capability is generally available without an additional Firebase charge, subject to applicable Gemini API terms, with documentation and samples available for implementation.
