Firebase introduced experimental SwiftLint rules to help Swift developers detect common Firebase SDK mistakes, such as failing to activate fetched Remote Config values or handling Dynamic Links incorrectly. SwiftLint, an open-source tool for enforcing Swift style and identifying potential issues, can highlight problems directly in Xcode projects and was particularly useful during Objective-C-to-Swift migration. The Firebase-specific rules are available through a pre-release binary hosted on Firebase’s fork in the firebase_rules branch, or can be built from source, and must be explicitly enabled in a .swiftlint.yml configuration file. Developers can then run SwiftLint normally, review implementation details separately, and provide feedback through Twitter or Stack Overflow.
