Accept Payments with Cloud Firestore and Google Pay

Firebase Extensions, introduced in 2019, provide prebuilt functionality for Firebase applications across areas such as messaging, image processing, translation, and email triggers. Announced at Firebase Summit 2021, the Google Pay Firebase Extension simplifies accepting Google Pay payments through supported payment service providers without requiring developers to integrate each provider’s individual API. Applications send a Google Pay payment token to a configured Cloud Firestore path, where the extension forwards the request to the selected provider and writes its response back to Firestore for real-time handling. Like other Firebase Extensions, it is open source, allowing developers to customize its behavior and contribute changes.
