Felt has introduced Offline Mode for Professional and Enterprise users of its Field App, enabling field teams to download unlimited map areas and work without connectivity while retaining access to basemaps, layers, attributes, photos, comments, annotations, data tables, searches, and existing permissions. The feature is designed to eliminate paper-based notes, delayed re-entry, manual exports, and unreliable synchronization by saving edits durably on devices and automatically syncing them to shared maps once a connection returns. Built by adapting Felt’s Lightning map engine to run locally on mobile devices using Rust, the offline experience provides the full application rather than a limited cached version and is intended to handle concurrent edits without requiring manual recovery procedures. Felt highlights uses in utility inspections, environmental surveys, construction site walks, and emergency response, where dependable offline data capture and rapid synchronization can improve record accuracy and timeliness. The release also includes rebuilt offline-capable surveys with conditional attributes, and it requires no specialized setup beyond installing Field App version 1.3.0 or later, opening a shared map, and downloading an area on iOS or Android.
