No Language Forgotten

No Language Forgotten is a new initiative aimed at bridging the gap in AI language support by uniting researchers and developers worldwide who are working independently to build AI models for underrepresented languages. With fewer than 100 of the world's 7,000 languages currently supported by frontier AI, the program focuses on fostering a community where developers can connect, share resources, and collaborate. Notable contributors include Omar Kamali, who built the first LLM for Moroccan Arabic, and Tim Santos, who has been pivotal in advancing AI for Philippine languages. The program offers a shared toolkit, visibility initiatives, and access to AMD Instinct hardware to overcome compute barriers, with Featherless hosting models for broader accessibility. By linking diverse linguistic pioneers, No Language Forgotten seeks to enhance AI's reach across languages with large speaker populations yet minimal technological representation.
