Featherless Raises $20M Series A to Power Open-Source AI Infrastructure

Featherless has announced a $20 million Series A funding round co-led by AMD Ventures and Airbus Ventures, aimed at advancing open-source AI infrastructure to make it practical, reliable, and scalable. The company positions itself as a neutral layer for open models, free from alliances with any hyperscalers or proprietary ecosystems, operating infrastructure in the EU and the US. Serving over 30,000 open models across various AI applications, Featherless is the fastest-growing inference partner in the Hugging Face ecosystem, leveraging an AI optimization stack to enhance performance and cost-efficiency. With a focus on AI independence, Featherless has partnered with AMD to ensure open-source models run on AMD's ROCm platform. The funding will be used to expand Featherless's model library, ship an open agent runtime for AI applications, enhance optimization strategies, and scale enterprise deployments, all while supporting an ecosystem that prioritizes freedom and trust in AI development.
