Your AI coding agent just got better at Fastly

Fastly has introduced the Fastly Agent Toolkit, an open-source collection of AI agent skills designed to enhance AI coding agents' performance when configuring Fastly services. These skills are curated knowledge files that teach AI agents how to work effectively with Fastly's platform, providing them with the expertise of a seasoned Fastly developer. The toolkit includes six specific skills, such as platform concepts, CLI workflows, VCL development, XVCL transpiler, and local compute testing with Wasm and Go-based runners. Internal testing demonstrated significant improvements in task completion speed and accuracy, with AI agents completing tasks up to 4.1 times faster when equipped with the skills. The toolkit complements the Fastly MCP Server by not only enabling agents to interact with Fastly but also ensuring they execute tasks correctly using the right patterns and commands. It is compatible with various AI agents that read markdown, and users are encouraged to contribute and share their experiences and improvements in the Fastly Community Forum.
