Fastly has announced significant updates to its DDoS Protection product, introducing the Adaptive Threat Engine to enhance mitigation accuracy and reduce the Mean Time to Mitigation (MTTR). Building on its proprietary Attribute Unmasking technique, Fastly's new updates now include a third control that cross-references automatically generated rules with legitimate traffic samples to minimize the impact on normal traffic. This improvement has notably increased mitigation accuracy, while the integration of HTTP Long Polling and a reduced detection refresh rate have significantly decreased the MTTR, allowing for faster response to attacks. Compared to May, these enhancements have resulted in attacks being mitigated 72% faster, thus ensuring optimal performance and availability during critical periods like the holiday season. Fastly encourages organizations to leverage these capabilities to protect their applications and APIs, particularly during high-traffic events such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday, offering assistance through customer support channels if needed.
