Fastly Named a Leader in the 2026 IDC MarketScape for WAAP
Blog post from Fastly
Fastly reports that it has been named a Leader in the IDC MarketScape Worldwide Web Application and API Protection Platforms 2026 Vendor Assessment, which evaluates vendors’ current capabilities and their strategies for customer needs over the next three to five years. The company positions its platform as a layered, automated response to increasingly AI-enabled cyberattacks, combining its Next-Gen WAF, DDoS Protection, Bot Management, API Security, and Client-Side Protection on its network. Fastly highlights IDC’s observation that its SmartParse engine enables many customers to operate its WAF in blocking mode with low false-positive rates by evaluating request execution context rather than relying on pattern matching. It also cites automated mitigation of a 220-billion-request DDoS attack through its Adaptive Threat Engine, as well as credential-stuffing deception and network-wide malicious-IP intelligence through its Network Learning Exchange. Looking ahead, Fastly describes AI-focused offerings including AI Firewall for prompt-injection protection, expanded API Security for agentic traffic, AI Runtime Control for managing model access and spending, and AI Bot Management for controlling AI crawlers.
